Guild Charter
Heros of the Horde is a mature (21+) Horde guild on the Spirestone server. We aim to provide our members with an enjoyable environment in which to pursue their goals in the World of Warcraft.
Guild Policies
Generally speaking, all of our policies can be summed up by one statement: Don't be a jerk.
More specifically, our belief is that a guild exists for the enjoyment of its members. To that end, our members are encouraged to pursue their interested, and if possible to involve their fellow guild members. However, as with any large group of people, conflicts will arise. Since we are a mature guild, we expect our members to be able to resolve their conflicts as adults. However, if the conflict can not be resolved, our members are asked to bring the matter to the attention of an officer, who will try to work through the issue. In extreme situations, the guild leader and officers have the authority to remove disruptive players from the guild to help ensure an enjoyable environment for the rest of the guild. In all such cases, the offending member will be informed of the nature of the disruption, and will be given the opportunity to respond to and/or resolve any raised issues prior to the decision to remove the member.
Recruiting Procedure
All new recruits must post an application on this web site under the Applications forum, within one week of being invited to the guild. Recruits who do not will be removed from the guild, but may be re-invited once they have submitted an application.
Applications will remain up for one week prior to any voting to give the guild a chance to get to know the recruit, and to give the recruit a chance to get to know us.
After the one week period, members and officers may vote on whether or not to promote the recruit. Three "yes" votes are required for promotion to full member status.
One "no" vote is sufficient to prevent promotion. As such, any "no" vote must be accompanied with a reason why the recruit should be denied membership. This reason will be investigated by the officers, and the "no" vote may be removed if the issue is resolved to the satisfaction of the officers. If the situation can not be resolved, the recruit will be removed from the guild.
A single forum account may only post a single vote, but may change a "yes" vote to a "no", and vice versa.
Once a recruit has three "yes" votes and no "no" votes, the recruit will be accepted and promoted to member. The thread for that recruit will also be locked and removed from the forums prior to their promotion.
If a recruit can not obtain three "yes" votes within six weeks of being in the guild, they will be removed from the guild.
Age Requirement
Heros of the Horde is mature guild, and as such membership will be restricted to those who are 21 or older in real life.
Underage Family Members
Since a lot of guild members have family who also play World of Warcraft, an exception to the age policy may be made in the following conditions:
- The underage member must be at least 17 years old.
- The person must be the son or daughter of a current member. Recruits may not ask to have their children invited into the guild until they have been promoted to full member.
- Parents will need to inform the officers the date of birth of their child. This information will be kept strictly confidential, and will only be used to determine when the underage policy will no longer apply to the child.
- Parents will be held accountable for the behavior of their children within the guild.
- Parents should be aware of our guild culture, and find it appropriate for their children prior to asking an officer to invite them into the guild. They should understand that this is a courtesy extended to guild members, and if the guild culture is inappropriate for their children, then they should not have their children in the guild.
- If the parents of an underage member leave the guild before the child turns 21, then the child will be removed from the guild. If the child is already 21 when their parents leave, then they may remain in the guild as a normal member.
- Children will go through the same recruiting procedure as all new recruits, with the exception that parents may not vote for their children to become members.
Ranks
The following are the guild ranks used by Heros of the Horde.
GM (title varies)
While the guild is generally run by consensus of the Officers, the GM is the final authority for all things related to the management of the guild. The position of GM shall be rotated every six months, with a new GM chosen from among the Officers every January and June in a manner chosen by the current GM.
Officer
Officers are responsible for the day to day operations of the guild, and are expected to go above and beyond to make the guild the best it can be. Each officer will have an assigned role, and will be expected to perform duties related to that role. Examples include raiding, guild bank management, recruiting, and PvP. Officers help the GM in deciding policy and setting the direction for the guild, but otherwise do not enjoy any special privileges beyond a normal member.
Any member may nominate any other member (including themselves) for the rank of Officer by contacting any of the Officers. Officers will be chosen by the GM based on input from the other Officers.
Officer Alt
This is simply a rank for alts belonging to the GM and the Officers.
Adviser
Advisers are members who have demonstrated that they are exceptional members, but do not have the time or desire to be promoted to Officer. They do not have any special duties, nor do they have any special privileges in the guild.
Any member may be nominated for the rank of Adviser, and selections will be made by the Officers.
Members
All full members of the guild who are not Officers or Advisers will be this rank. Members have access to withdraw a set number of items per day from the guild bank, and may ask Officers to withdraw additional items for them, if needed.
Recruit
Newly recruited guild members will remain in this rank during their trial period, described in the recruiting procedure above. Recruits may make deposits to the guild bank, but may not withdraw anything during their trial period.
Raid Policies
Raid Membership
- To join a raid you must sign up using either GroupCalendar, which is accessible in game, or Blizzard's built in calendar. The raid should be posted two or three days prior to the raid actually starts to allow sufficient time to sign up. Sign up with your class and role (DPS, healer, or tank), and if you plan to appear, plan not to appear, or wish to be on standby. You must sign up as the character who you intend to bring to the raid. If you need to indicate any additional information with your sign up (for example, that you might be a couple minutes late), that information should be sent to the raid leader, or posted to the guild forums.
- Thirty minutes before the raid starts, and if you are online, start inviting people who are ready (please ask in the guild chat first if a raid has started yet and who is ready for invites). Anyone can start the raid for their group, to get things rolling. You can see who has signed up using GroupCalendar, or the built-in calendar. Once you've been invited to the raid group, immediately start traveling to the raid. The reason for this is that if there are members of the Alliance there, summoning can be difficult, and we do not want to delay the raid due to this.
- When the posted time for your raid comes, the raid will start. Raids will begin forming thirty minutes before the start time, so you have until then to get online. If there are any extra spots left, they will be filled with people from the guild after the raid start time has passed. If you are late, your spot may be given away to another guild member. When raid leaders pick from the guild to fill extra spots, they may do so at their discretion based on any factors they choose are appropriate to the raid they are trying to fill.
- Raiding is a team endeavor, and like any team activity, relies on each member to contribute to the success of the team. Raid members are therefore expected to be adequately prepared for any raid for which they sign up.
- Raid leaders should use their best judgment in determining if raid members are sufficiently prepared, both in terms of gear and experience, for any raid they are leading. In cases where there is a question of a character being ready for a certain level of content, they should contact the individual prior to the raid to resolve any concerns. If the concerns can not be resolved, the raid leader may opt to remove the individual from the sign up list for that particular raid after they have communicated their concerns to the individual and the officers, and explained how they can meet the minimum requirements for the raid.
- In cases where, during a raid, the raid leader determines that an individual is not performing to the level required by the content, and a guilded replacement is readily available, the raid leader may replace the individual with the next guilded member on the raid's waiting list. A brief explanation of why the individual was removed should be given to the individual at the time they are removed, with a more detailed explanation given to the individual and officers after the raid has completed.
- If an individual feels that they were unfairly excluded from a raid, they may appeal the decision to any officer, or the GM before or after the raid, but not during the raid itself.
- The guild may put together one or more "progression" teams. While these teams may be lead by an guild member, they must always be sponsored by an officer. Progression raid leaders may impose additional requirements on raid members, which may supersede the standard raiding rules in these policies. These progression raids will be clearly identified on the calendar, and any requirements for membership on these teams, as well as the names of the raid leader and officer sponsor, will be posted to the General Raiding forum.
Loot Rules
- All raids will be set to master looter, with level of loot set to rare, to avoid random rolls on most BoE items to save time. For all other items, one person (the master looter) is in charge of calling out loot and rolls. If you are not this person, please do not initiate a roll for a particular item. The master looter will announce the items that have dropped and then will announce which items are being rolled on. Everyone will then roll a 1d100 by typing /roll. Highest roller wins, with priority given to main specs and people who have not yet received an item in the current raid (see below for details).. In case of a tie, the highest winners will be asked to re-roll, at which point, the highest roller from those scores will be given the item. In the case were two or more identical or similar items (such as gems), drop, then the highest over all rollers will be given the items, with highest roller being given first pick, second highest given second, and so on. There will not be rerolls on these items.
- To save time, on some items on which all or most of the raid members will be rolling (such as the Satchel of Spoils from Sartharion), the master looter may, at their discretion and after making an announcement to the raid, roll a 1d10 or 1d25 (depending on the raid size), and assign the loot to the person who appears in the corresponding position on the raid roster as viewed by the master looter. If the person does not want the item, the master looter will reroll to choose a different person. Otherwise, there will not be rerolls on these items.
- Raid members are limited to one epic item per raid, except as specified below. As raid consists of a single instance until it resets (so moving the raid to a new instance counts as a new raid, but a clean up run for the same instance before it resets counts as the same raid for the purposes of this rule). For non-progression raids, the raid leader may waive this rule after making a suitable announcement to the raid.
- Do not roll on an item if it is not for your class. Raid members may roll on items in the following order:
- First rolls will go to main spec and class.
- If no one rolls, then the master looter will call for rolls from anyone wishes to use the item for an off spec.
- In both cases above, priority will be given to rollers who have received the fewest items during the current raid. In other words, someone who received no items and rolled a 3 will win over someone who has already received an item who rolled a 95.
- If no one rolls for the item, then the item will be sharded.
- The winner of an item may not immediately sell the item to another raid member for gold or any other form of compensation. If the winner changes their mind for any reason, they may inform the master looter that they pass on the item, in which case it will be given to whoever would have won the item had the winner not rolled for it.
- One person for the night will be designated the sharder, who may shard items at their leisure through the raid or at the end of the raid. Shards will be passed out at the end of the raid as a reward for those who remain through the entire raid. This includes those who have replaced others that may have left the raid early. Shards will be distributed by having all members of the raid roll 1-100. Shards will be passed out to the raid members with the highest roll getting the most valuable shard, and so forth. In the even that there are more shards than raid members, the top rollers may receive additional shards until all the shards have been passed out.
- If no one in the raid can shard, then items may be rolled for by all members of the raid, with highest roller winning, to sell as vendor trash.
- You are only eligible for one piece of T-gear per instance, unless no one rolls on the other pieces. This also includes if a raid is continued at a later date and you rejoin the same raid. In large raids (25+) with only a few bosses (such as Gruul's and Mag's), this rule also applies to all epic items. In these raids, you may only receive one epic or one T-gear per instance, but not both. Once you have received something, please do not roll again, unless there are no other rolls for the item. This rule, however, does not apply to always dropped items from these bosses (example, Gruul's head), even if they are epic. Nor does it apply to any shards or gems earned that night by the raid. These are open to everyone, unless they have already received a unique item in a previous raid, as you can only have one of these per character anyway.
- The above rules also apply to pugs. They have participated equally in the raid and will be given equal chance at loot. They will, however, be limited to the same restrictions guild members are and raid leaders who are attempting to pug a raid should make it clear to those joining how our loot system works, so there are no questions when the looting starts.
- Situations not covered by these policies, or in which there is ambiguity in the policies, will be decided by the master looter. Any such decisions will be brought to the attention of a guild officer after the raid so that the loot policies may be revised, if necessary.
- All loot assignments made by the master looter are final. Any disagreements over the distribution of loot during a raid should be brought to the attention of a guild officer AFTER the conclusion of the raid. Arguments over loot during a raid will not be tolerated, and may result in removal from the raid.
Dual Specs
With WoW 3.1, dual specs were introduced into the game. This does not change the loot rules outlined above. Each character still has ONE primary spec, even if they purchased dual specs. Items that support the alternative spec should be rolled for as off-spec pieces.
The only exception to this is if you ask the raid leader and master looter if it's okay for you to roll for your secondary spec as your main spec, and roll for your primary spec as off-spec. This must be done before the raid starts, and will apply to the entire raid - you can not change which spec you are rolling for as your main spec mid way through the raid, even if the raid spans multiple evenings.
Saved Instances
Once you have been saved to the raid (this happens when you kill a boss), do NOT start another raid of the same kind. Only go with that raid you have been saved to, in case the raid leaders choose to run that raid again before the reset time. (Which will most likely be posted in GroupCalendar). It has never been an issue of anyone pugging out a saved run, but it's here, as it's a guild policy. If you would like to run the raid again before the reset (in the event no return is planned) please get in touch with the raid leaders responsible for your particular group, to see if an additional day can be planned. Most of our raids are numbered (group 1, group 2, group 3, ect), please remember your group number.
Running as Alts
If you wish to run the raid more than once, but on an alternate characters, you may do so and may sign up with that alt as per the rules above, with one change. Please post your alts as being on standby, but be sure to leave a note saying you are signing up as an alt and plan to come. The purpose for this is that we wish to show preference, in raids, to those players who have not had an opportunity to participate yet, over those who have, even though they are bringing different characters. This is to give everyone in the guild a fair chance to see raid content.
Leaving the Guild
As sad as it is, there is no way for any one guild to be all things for all people, and as such sometimes members may decided that this guild is not for them. In situations like this, we ask that the departure be handled so that everyone may remain on the best terms possible. To ensure this, if you are considering leaving the guild, please do the following:
- Wait for a while to cool off, especially if something just happened to upset you. Things happen, and sometimes it takes a day or two in order to see things in the proper perspective.
- Talk to an officer about your concerns, and see if a mutually acceptable solution can be reached. If you have suggestions on how things could be done better in the guild, definitely bring those to our attention, as we are always open to suggestions.
- Talk to another officer. Sometimes things do slip through the cracks, and the best way to avoid that is to talk to several people.
- Talk to the Guild Master. Though this is a casual guild and we try to run things as a semi-democracy, the GM is the final authority on all things.
- If a solution is proposed, give it some time to work. Sometimes it may take a week or two to see a solution take effect.
If after all that you still feel that a /gquit is the best solution, let an officer know why you're leaving and what you've tried to do to help solve the problem. Then, feel free to make your farewells to the guild, either on the forums or in guild chat, and /gquit.
Leaving Alts In the Guild
If you have left the guild on good terms and wish to leave some alts in the guild, you are welcome to do so. We value all of our members, and would be happy to keep seeing you around, even if it's not as often as we used to.
However, if you choose to remove a max level character from the guild without trying to work things out with us first, then we will assume that you simply were not happy here, and an officer may choose to save you the trouble of removing your remaining alts.
Rejoining the Guild
If you have left the guild on good terms and decide within a month that you wish to rejoin, we will happily invite you back into the guild with no questions asked and you will be immediately promoted back to the Member rank. This is a one time deal, and only applies the first time you leave the guild.
In all other cases, former members will need to submit an application as a new recruit in order to rejoin the guild.
